Katy Perry has officially come out saying she did not take a swipe at Britney Spears or her new music video, Rift Gold and she had more than a few choice words for the tabloid press who reported the alleged news.
Early in the week, singer Marina Diamandis asked via Twitter what the consensus was on product placement was in videos. Perry responded, tweeting, "do it w/style & grace...Not so in ur face like some. RIFT Platinum U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don't care tho, & u can tell."
Certain people and some members of the media took Perry's tweet to mean that she might indirectly be referring to Spears' recent 'Hold It Against Me' video.
In the video, Spears holds her own perfume, rift gold Radiance, and plugs cosmetics company Make Up Forever, online dating site Plenty of Fish and Sony. It has been reported that Spears earned a cool $500,000 for all the product placements.
Perry took to Twitter to explain what she meant and had more than a few choice words for the media: "Dear tabloid media aka FILTH: pls note I expressed an overall feeling bout product placement, RIFT Platinum their roles in vids & the art of them being... complimenting or sticking out. Most, if not ALL popsters welcome deals w/products 2 offset costs of big budget vids in these recessional... music industry times."
She continued, TERA Gold "I'VE used them in MY vids before & am happy 2b able 2 make a better vid because of. Once AGAIN, stop pitting artists...against artist for ur sensational satisfaction & stick to what ur best @: lying, gossiping, exaggerating & overall lending a hand 2 the... ...deterioration of a generation."
