Halo 4's Master Chief in high-res art

Here's a nice high-resolution piece of 'teaser art' of Master Chief as he will look in 343 Industries' Halo 4. It was actually much bigger than this, but we had to crunch down its immense resolution to a size more suitable for the internet than a banner for the side of the Empire State building. Halo 4 will, in case you missed the news, be the first game in the main series NOT made by Bungie, instead being handled by Microsoft studio 343 Industries. That studio talked of the pressures of gamers' expectations in this recent developer diary. Mike Jackson

God Of War Studio Working On An Unannounc

The sad, revenge-fueled story of Kratos apparently came to an end with the release of Sony Santa Monica's God of War 3 last year. While there's little doubt that we'll see more of the ashy Spartan warrior at some point in the future, the studio has apparently shifted its efforts to focus on something entirely new.A Gamasutra job posting reveals that Sony Santa Monica is working on an "unannounced new IP." The open position is for a Senior Level Designer, and the listing further notes that candidates with experience developing an open world game are preferred. The God of War series is known for its very linear structure, so it seems that this new game will be a departure on more than one level.Source: Gamasutra

Codemasters boss doubts 'premium Wii U pr

Codemasters boss Rod Cousens has expressed doubts that Nintendo will launch Wii U at "a premium price point". "I anticipate further price cuts on existing consoles prior to Christmas this year, and there's room for further price cuts next year. So Wii U needs to be very keenly priced," the exec told MCV."Pricing is critical in a very fragmented hardware space," he added. "So I am not sure they are going to be able to come out and hit a premium price point from the outset. But Nintendo is smart. It is always innovative. It has demonstrated its breakthrough ability in the past, so let's see if it can do it again. And the industry should cheer it on."Nintendo said earlier this week that it doesn't plan to announce the Wii U price or release date until next year.Following the console's announcement in June though, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata didn't beat around the bush when he said: "This is not going to be cheap."Around the same time, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said the console will offer consumers "fantastic value" for money and be "competitively" priced with PS3 and Xbox 360. Sony stock hits 2011 low after Wii U Drag

Sony and Square Enix stocks have tumbled following the announcement of Wii and Wii U exclusive online RPG Dragon Quest X. The PS3 maker's stock has been falling for the past three days and today dropped to its lowest level this year. Leading economic paper Nikkei (via Andriasang) ran the headline 'Dragon Quest Shock Causes Decline' with its coverage of the news. The head of Rakuten Investment Management told the paper investors may be concerned that Dragon Quest X's no-show on Sony's console will impact its games business. Worries about the firm's television business and an overall market slowdown due to the appreciating yen have also impacted its stock.Meanwhile, Dragon Quest maker Square Enix's share price has dropped over ten percent since yesterday's announcement of the latest game in the series. Report Sony Knew the PSN Leak Was Huge,

According to a report from Kyodo News, citing official Japanese government documentation, Sony Computer Entertainment knowingly delayed telling the public about the extent of an attack on its PlayStation Network so as not to "bewilder" its customers. The report, submitted to the Japanese government and obtained under a freedom of information request, says that SCE was able to confirm internally on April 25 (American time) that a "fairly large amount of data" had been exposed to hackers. A press release issued the next day, however, only stated that Sony could not "rule out the possibility" that personal information had been compromised. It's also claimed that PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai gave incorrect information in a statement issued on May 1, in which he said Sony didn't learn about the extent of the attack until April 26 (American time), a full day later than the company confirmed matters internally. The official document also says that Sony delayed informing the public of the extent of the breach so as not to "bewilder" its customers, a spokesperson saying "We hadn't figured out (at that time) what kind of data had been leaked. If only passwords and IDs (were breached), they cannot be considered personal information, and so we didn't want to bewilder our customers."While being out by a day seems minor, that discrepancy combined with the gap between what Sony knew internally and what it told people publicly still raises the possibility - and this is why the Japanese government is looking into this - that, as Kyodo News puts it, Sony "deliberately attempted to downplay the seriousness of the situation by not fully disclosing information".Sony knew data breach was massive but withheld full disclosure [Kyodo news, subscription required]

Max Payne 3 dated for March 2012

,jimmy choo outlet

Take-Two has announced an "expected" March 2012 US and European release for Rockstar's Max Payne 3. The publisher said the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game "promises to deliver a dark, gritty action experience that is sure to satisfy newcomers and fans to the historic franchise"."Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters, jimmy choo boots," said Rockstar founder Sam Houser. "We're excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story." Having been way too quiet about the third-person shooter for some time, Rockstar got us all excited with a new batch of screenshots late last month. Here's Take-Two's official description of the game:Max Payne 3 continues the tale of former New York City detective, Max Payne. Glitch Online My Life in a Browser

By Remko Molenaar (Proxzor),jimmy choo boots, OnRPG Journalist Glitch is Glitch, cheap jimmy choo, there is no other way to describe Glitch Online other than saying its name. The Developers Tiny Speck made an absolutely brilliant browser game. Glitch is a web-based massively-multiplayer game which takes place inside the minds of eleven peculiarly imaginative Giants. What’s the aim of the game? There basically is none, there are loads of skills to learn, races to run, puzzles to solve and quest to do. The world provides a big playground for everyone to create their own path and to invent and create items. It is like the developers like to call it, ‘The world is your big, jimmy choo outlet, colorful, non-smelly oyster’. Recently Glitch went into beta after a very long closed Alpha phase. Tiny Speck this week ended beta and has brought the game into a semi-launch, though players must still request access to the game prior to playing. After watching the weird yet funny trailer I decided to read about it more and test the game, and boy was I surprised!---- Warning ----Now before you read further please note that this game can make you forget important stuff in real life. So before playing please be sure you have eaten food and got something to drink and fed the people close to you because once you touch Glitch the world around you disappears.---- Warning ---- Now you might be wondering, if there is no purpose in the game what can you exactly do and what is the point? Glitch helps you socialize and build your character by playing the game and exploring every last street that is currently on one of the maps. What is so fun about exploring? Well while you’re exploring you get some quests, these quests will teach you the basics of some skills in Glitch. They also show you that you can take your own route and do whatever you want and learn every skill you think might be the best choice. Once you have created your character it is time to step out of the brain and step into the world of Glitch. After doing some basic stuff like jumping around and reading some notes you get the choice to meet a ‘Greeter’. These people will help you learn the basics of Glitch and will teach you anything that you require in the world of Glitch. They will also help you with every question you have so don’t hesitate to ask them anything since they are players in the world of Glitch as well. After I had talked with my Greeter I went to change the outfit of my current avatar and went to read through the skills. There are plenty of options and skills to learn, and it is all up to you to decide what to learn first. I decided to take the route of a miner to start earning some extra cash. After I got my first pickaxe and mined some resources, I proceeded to sell them on the Auction market. The Auction is in a different window than your game but still interacts with your game that is running in another window. Meaning that if you sell or buy something the cash and the item will get delivered to you so you don’t have to reload the game or anything. After I had earned some cash I decided to get a home. Yes this browser game actually has housing and apartments! I decided I wanted something big so I bought a villa. I currently own 5168 Estevan Meadows Quarter, Groddle Meadow, Ur. So come visit me and knock on my door if you want to hang out! I am not planning to settle in a new place any time soon. The game requires a happy mood and a full bar of energy to interact with objects in the world of Glitch. A happy mood gives you more experience in the game so you want to make sure your character is in a happy mood or else you might miss that little extra experience that could level you up. Energy is your life force and required to interact with anything in the game. So make sure you eat and drink a lot because food will regenerate your Mood and Energy. Be sure to have food with you all the time though because if you run out of energy and you have nothing to eat you will die. If you die you will get a small mini game that will help you to get back onto your feet again and return to the world of the living. Nothing is lost with dying but it doesn’t make your character too happy so don’t try to die that often.Glitch is a really addictive game and I spent a lot of hours in it already. Even though it is a MMORPG without fighting, Tiny Speck really brings a fun aspect to the genre. The game is all about socializing, getting richer and learning as many skills as possible in an incredibly fun environment. There are a lot of places to explore and a lot of objects in the environment to keep you busy for a while. Currently it is possible to subscribe to the game to get a little benefit above others; there are some special clothes and other objects that a subscriber can get but nothing game breaking. I personally have a lot of fun playing this game and I would recommend EVERYONE to give it a shot because it will change your life.

Early Access Dream Drops

By Darren Henderson (DizzyPW), OnRPG Editor-In-ChiefYesterday marked the first day of Gamania's Taiwan Game Show and the beginning of their spectacular line up was Dream Drops. For those familiar with Lucent Heart, you will find yourself right at home as Dream Drops is developed by the same team and takes Gamania's usual style and pushes it to the next generation. In Dream Drops you take on the role of a 'sleepwalker' aka a human who is temporarily transported into the world of dreams to help bring some clarity to the chaos befalling the world of After Dream. Apparently Time Thieves have stolen the Time from children's classic fairy tales, resulting in bizarre alterations to Fairy Tales. Most notably, the Queen of Hearts has gone from savage and maniacal to focused and goal driven, leading the Elder Board in a hunt to catch the Time Thieves. Meanwhile Snow White has gone Barbie and is attempting to seize control of all of After Dream the only way a Barbie Girl knows how, creating a seductive clothing line called Silver Waltz!Although the Queen of Hearts has summoned you to the world of After Dreams, don't let your guard down. She is still vicious and ready to turn on you as soon as you no longer serve her purposes. The story line and cast of characters in Dream Drops is twisted, full of appearances like Hook, betrayal, and mystery. In terms of gameplay, Dream Drops takes the classic 4 class model and reimagines it with the tank becoming a Nutcracker, the mage becoming a Dream Painter, the cleric becoming a Pasty Chef, and the summoner as an Indian Warrior. While they serve these rolls in a familiar way, their skills are nothing but imaginative. For instance the Pasty Chef (pictured below as Pedo Bear) attacks enemies with giant ice cream cones, heals allies with candy, and spills milk on people for the pure joy of being Pedo Bear. As a side note, it seems each class will have a different starting area, so expect some replayability should you choose to sample the 4 classes.Guild Cities also play a very important role in Dream Drops. Guilds will be able to collect materials and rare blueprints in order to construct buildings in their town, offering useful buffs and rare crafting locations. The town construction itself is quite detailed, to the point that you can literally spell out words from an aerial view of your city with trees, fountains, crafting houses, and other buildings. As your guild grows, so too does the amount of land available for you to build upon.Of course it would be sad if this joy was limited to only the Guild Leader (as it is in most games), but the 5 tiered guild member ranking system in Dream Drops can be used to give limited access to the town builder to your closest guildies. This way you can come together and work in unison to build the perfect Guild Town for your group of friends. Now one of the major problems in the past with Guild Towns is that smaller guilds often lack the number of members to effectively run quests, gather materials, and build a prosperous guild town. Dream Drops partially alleviates this problem by allowing Guild Leaders to post player generated quests on a billboard in their Guild Town. Non-guildies can accept these quests, and work to fetch materials for the guild like little mercenaries. This does come at the cost of Guild Leaders having to fit the bill on the quest reward but it's a step in the right direction when players can generate their own quests for any purpose. In true Lucent Heart fashion, Dream Drops offers plenty of ways to customize your character without limiting your viability. Gem stones can be placed in a cross pattern on the character screen (with the horizontal bar focusing on physical and the vertical focusing on magical) to bolster your character's stats beyond their base level stats. This is entirely different from the fashion sets that can be obtained from the cash shop as well as various quests, offering you incredibly detailed character customization without having any impact on your character stats. Level requirements are also placed on the fashion, reserving the best looking items for players dedicated enough to reach endgame. Approximately 9 slots for fashion exist as well, so it shouldn't be too difficult if you try to reserve a unique look for yourself. As you level up, you gain access to new class promotions (2nd tier classes not yet announced!) as well as new skills to master, most consisting of 10 levels of upgrading. In fact so many diverse skills are available to you that it will take a good amount of time to eventually master all of the skills, and players will be forced to specialize themselves while leveling to maximize their power. This comes with a nice aesthetic bonus however as skills actually change in animation the closer they are to maximum level. This can range from some added sparkly particles to the Nutcracker charging on a glorious steed instead of wooden rocking horse. To keep things interesting, various events and minigames occur daily and change daily in Dream Drops. Players will be given a handy in-game calendar to keep track of these events and can even edit it to ignore certain events or send reminders to themselves and guildies for important calendar events. Speaking of convenient features, you can actually access both your mailbox and auction house from anywhere in the world! These even includes accepting mail attachments while out grinding mobs. The true Time Thieves are MMO companies that have forced players to return to town for these mundane tasks and Dream Drops is out to rectify this injustice.Though the game isn't even slated for release yet, the developers promise that the feud between Snow White and The Queen of Hearts is only the beginning. Expect an infusion of Asian fairy tales to join the roster of American and European stories in a post launch expansion!

Ice-T unboxes Gears of War 3 Xbox, Lancer

It's going down. Ice-T yo, unboxing the limited edition Gears of War 3 Xbox bundle. That's right. Boom. Ahem. Rap star Ice-T voiced the character Griffin in the game, which is probably why Epic lobbed him the swanky Xbox almost two weeks ahead of its September 20 launch. It's a 320GB black and red 360 with two custom-designed controllers priced at $399. The bundle also includes a copy of Gears of War 3, a wired headset and a download token for bonus game content, including the Infected Omen Weapon Pack and the Adam Fenix character for use in multiplayer. Also, the power and eject buttons have been customised with unique sounds from the "Gears of War" universe, which is possibly the best perk of all, but Ice doesn't show you that because he probably hasn't the foggiest. But hey, it's Ice-T so that's okay.He also unwraps an awesome full-size Lancer model. Yeah boy. Mike Jackson

Vita hailed 'easiest PlayStation platform

PlayStation Vita is the easiest ever Sony platform to developer for, reckons the man behind Sony Liverpool's WipEout 2048. Speaking in the latest issue of Edge - which is with subscribers now - game director Stuart Tilley claimed his team has been able to get the handheld racer up and running "a lot quicker" than on platforms its worked on previously, which includes PS3 and PSP."I think of all the PlayStations I've worked on, which is actually all of them, it's the easiest one to work with," he told the mag. "The guys have given us a really good set of tools, allowing us to get up and running a lot quicker than we have previously, which is really good. "We had a smaller team at the back end of last year that got working straight away on the game stuff rather than too much of the underlying tech, which allows us to really start getting the game in your hands as soon as possible."The news will likely be welcomed by developers that infamously struggled to get to grips with PlayStation 3's more challenging architecture at launch.Another hurdle removed for developers is the cost of Vita dev kits, which come in at a fraction of the price of the PSP's.For the full interview buy Edge online and have it delivered to your door and see the latest WipEout 2048 trailer and screenshots for more Vita goodness.
