Gonzalez withdraws from French Open

PARIS (AP)Hard-hitting Fernando Gonzalez of Chile has withdrawn from theFrench Open because of a knee injury.The former No,aion RMT. 5 - a semifinalist at Roland Garros two years ago- said on his Twitter account ''it's a shame, but I'm doingeverything possible to come back and feel better.''The clay-court Grand Slam tournament begins on Sunday inParis.Gonzalez has dropped to No. 370 in the ATP rankings afterundergoing surgery on his right hip.
